North Shore Centre

#300-132 E 14th Street, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 2N3

Avalon Women’s Centre North Shore has been serving the North Shore community since 1997. It is a busy and active hub of friendship, warmth and support that makes a huge impact in the lives of countless women and their families.

The Centre holds a number of social events, like movie nights, open houses and potlucks. It has a well-stocked lending library and clothing closet, and offers free childminding to women attending the noon AA meetings. We invite you to drop by for a tea or coffee and learn more about the many wonderful aspects of this warm and welcoming Centre.

Meetings, Events, Workshops and More
Thank you Avalon for being the calm place, safe from the everyday pushing and shoving. I walk through the door and there is always a smile, a hug, or a friendly word. I take a deep breath, and I know that I am safe.

Meet the North Shore Centre Staff

Jennifer Morrow, Centre Manager

Jennifer is no stranger to recovery. She has been a volunteer and Relief Worker at Avalon before coming on as the Centre Manager in November 2020. Jennifer has been part of the Avalon Community since 2010.  Prior to joining Avalon, Jennifer worked with the Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction as a Client Service Worker. She believes that connection and hope are the fundamentals of change. Avalon is very close to Jennifer’s heart and she is humbled to work with women seeking recovery and a better life.

Jennifer completed her Addiction Counselling Program at VCC in 2020 and has volunteered with Union Gospel Mission and Women’s Recovery houses over the past 12 years.  Jennifer also provides counselling to women in recovery settings.

Jennifer enjoys time off with her two children and partner.

Please come by the North Shore Centre and get to know her, or contact her by email at jenn@avaloncentres.org

Linda Shaw, Centre Coordinator

Linda is proud to be part of Avalon North Shore since August 2020. Linda came to Avalon after she retired from a 37-year career working with women in addiction. She missed the direct involvement with women and came to Avalon to assist where she could. She feels she has the perfect balance through her contact with the women of Avalon and her beautiful family at home.

If you have any questions for Linda, please email avalonnorthshore@avaloncentres.org or call 604.913.0477.

Paulina Gorecki, Centre Coordinator

Although new to Avalon as a staff member, Paulina has been a part of our community for 15 years. She is an ECE teacher with a child psychology background, and has a university background in fitness, wealth and relaxation therapy. On top of that, Paulina is also a part time florist! As a new member of our team, Paulina is excited to work with the women of Avalon.

If you have any questions for Paulina, please email avalonnorthshore@avaloncentres.org or call 604.913.0477.
